About me
About Me: Ship Faster. Sleep Better.
I’m Sam Malekpour, a DevOps / Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with over 12 years of IT experience, specializing for more than 5 years in designing and running reliable, scalable, and automated platforms. My core mission is simple: to build robust systems that enable teams to deliver software with speed and confidence.
My Approach
My methodology is rooted in Reliability by Design and an Automation First mindset. I focus on creating systems that are inherently resilient, setting sane defaults, and implementing zero-drift operations.
What I help teams achieve:
- Reliability: Resilient architectures, graceful failure handling, and proactive monitoring.
- Automation: Using Terraform and Ansible for repeatable infrastructure and configuration management.
- Containers at Scale: Deploying consistent, scalable workloads on Kubernetes (EKS).
- CI/CD that Sticks: Designing GitLab pipelines with guardrails for smooth, automated delivery from commit to production.
- Observability: Implementing metrics, logs, and alerts that inform proactively, without generating spam.
Technical Toolbox
| Category | Tools & Technology |
| Cloud & Infra | AWS (EKS, S3, CloudFront, EC2), OpenStack, Proxmox, VMware vSphere |
| Infrastructure as Code | Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation |
| Containers | Docker, Kubernetes |
| CI/CD | GitLab CI |
| Monitoring | Prometheus/Loki/Grafana, OTel, ELK |
| OS & Scripting | Linux, Python, Bash |
I'm currently exploring GitOps, advanced Kubernetes networking (OVN/OVS), and Storage patterns (Ceph) to further enhance platform efficiency.
About This Weblog
This weblog is where I document what I learn and experience as an SRE. You’ll find articles covering:
New technologies I’m exploring.
Practical lessons from managing high-traffic, automated platforms.
Detailed guides and code examples for my Toolbox.
Think of it as a place to share knowledge that sharpens systems thinking—for both you and me.
Beyond Work
Outside of my professional life, I enjoy learning new technologies, exploring mathematics, and playing chess. These passions help me think critically, solve problems creatively, and continuously improve — qualities I bring into my work as an engineer.
